During this time of COVID-19, I have been inspired by how people from around the world have picked up the slack to both encourage and help others, especially in the digital signage space.

This year has certainly not been what any of us were expecting. While those of us in the states certainly expected a contentious election year, few predicted that the coronavirus would so radically alter how we live, interact and do business. It has been overwhelming and exhausting to keep up with every new development.
However, during this time, I have also been inspired by how people from around the world have picked up the slack to both encourage and help others, especially in the digital signage space.
On the business side of things, vendors have quickly changed their offerings to help businesses adapt to COVID-19 restrictions. These vendors have added touchless options for interactive kiosks, integrated occupancy control tools for outdoor signage, delivered COVID-19 related content and so much more. Despite being in the thick of it like the rest of us, digital signage vendors really have risen to the occasion.
They have done more than just help out businesses, they are also engaging with the community. For example, during the summer of 2020 as I was driving on the highway, I noticed many digital billboards that would normally be displaying advertising instead showing pictures of high school graduates. These billboards were congratulating graduates by name during a time when it was impossible for them to actually have a traditional graduation.
Digital billboard operators have also delivered space for those essential workers whose work is so often overlooked, such as truck drivers, retail workers, healthcare workers, restaurant workers and so many others who we rely upon.
During tough times, we realize what is really important in life, and we use what we have to help out others, even digital signage. At the end of the day, digital signage isn’t just for businesses. It’s a communication tool, and it is for everyone.
